As Omnisend partners, at STRAT we work with this platform every day across online stores. This review is a summary of our opinion after managing customer retention on real accounts since 2022. Straight to the point: we tell you what it genuinely does well, what it includes and what is new for 2026, so you can judge whether it is the right option for your ecommerce.

In case you are short on time, or this is the first time you have heard of it: Omnisend is an email, SMS and web push platform built specifically for ecommerce. It is used by more than 150,000 brands. It stands out for being quick to get running, for its ready-to-sell automations, and for including everything you need to start your email marketing strategy in one place. In 2026 they have added powerful improvements in deliverability, artificial intelligence and reporting that make it more complete still.

    What Omnisend is

Omnisend is a marketing platform for ecommerce. Rather than being a generic email tool you then bolt an ecommerce add-on onto, it was born the other way round: built around the online store.

It brings together in a single tool email, SMS, web push notifications, capture forms, database segmentation, artificial intelligence and email and sales reporting. For a brand that does not want to keep stacking up separate apps, having it all under one roof is one of its biggest draws.

    The email editor

The editor works by drag and drop, with no code. You get pre-designed templates, product-recommendation blocks that pull items from your catalogue, dynamic discount codes and mobile-responsive layouts. Building a professional newsletter is quick and easy, even without a design team.

In 2026 they have added Universal Layouts: reusable structures you create once and can use across several emails. When you change the design, it updates in every email using it, which saves you rebuilding the header or footer in each newsletter and keeps brand consistency.

And if you design in Canva, this year they have added direct integration: you can bring your Canva designs into the Omnisend editor without having to download and re-upload them, which speeds up newsletter assembly considerably.

    Automations

This is where Omnisend genuinely shines. It brings the flows that matter most for an ecommerce (templated and ready, where you only need to personalise the design): welcome, abandoned cart, browse abandonment, post-purchase, winback and birthday, among others. These are automations that generate revenue on a recurring basis without you having to stay on top of them.

The flow editor is visual, with branches, conditions and splits based on the contact's behaviour.

    SMS

Unlike many tools that only do email, Omnisend integrates SMS within the same platform, with national and international sending. You can combine email and SMS in a single customer journey, which gives you more touchpoints without leaving the tool.

SMS works on credits bought separately from your plan, and in 2026 they have simplified that purchase considerably: you now choose volume and monthly price more clearly and predictably, with automatic renewal always in view. It also warns you of quiet hours when you schedule a send, so you do not message people at unsociable times.

    Web push notifications

Web push notifications are those messages that reach the user's browser even when they are not on your site. Omnisend includes them even on the free plan, which makes them a very interesting extra channel for recovering carts or announcing news with no sending cost.

    Segmentation

Good segmentation is the difference between sending all your contacts the same thing and sending each one what interests them. Omnisend lets you segment by purchase history, browsing behaviour, on-site activity, engagement level and demographics.

For teams managing several stores, in 2026 they have added the ability to copy segments from one store to another (if they share a platform), renaming them along the way. It is an enormous time-saver for agencies and brands with several projects.

    Forms, popups and landing pages

To grow your list, Omnisend brings signup forms, popups that trigger when the visitor is about to leave, forms embedded in the site, and landing pages.

The 2026 novelty is the AI form assistant: it generates complete forms, including the teaser (that small prompt inviting you to open the form), from your instructions. They have also added the option to hide the form's close button, a detail that tends to lift the signup rate.

    Artificial intelligence

AI is one of Omnisend's focuses in 2026. It helps you generate email copy, create subject lines, build segments, recommend products and personalise messages. It does not replace a good strategy, but it takes hours of manual work off your plate and gives you an interesting starting point when you are staring at a blank page.

Since mid-year they let you connect your Omnisend account with AI tools like ChatGPT (and soon others such as Claude) through the MCP standard. Once connected, you ask it about your campaigns, automations, subscribers or revenue, and it answers instantly with your real data, without leaving the AI or exporting reports. For drawing quick conclusions or asking for recommendations about your account, it is very convenient.

    Reporting and analytics

The reports go beyond opens and clicks. Omnisend attributes revenue to each newsletter and automation, so you really see how much money each action generates, not just how many people opened the email.

In 2026 it has expanded this part a lot. The products-sold reports now cover automations too, each contact's activity and a store-level products page, plus the export of all that data. And for advanced teams, they have launched a statistics API (in beta) that lets you take your Omnisend data into external analytics and business intelligence tools, to analyse it your own way.

    Deliverability

A good email is little use if it ends up in spam. Omnisend has strengthened deliverability in 2026 with an important feature: the custom click-tracking domain. Instead of your links pointing to a domain shared by many brands, they can now go under a subdomain of your own. Your links look more professional, build more trust, and that protects your click rate and your sending reputation.

Another new safety net: you can cancel an email newsletter even after it has started sending, within a window of a few minutes. If you spot a typo or a mistimed scheduled send, you have room to stop it. Anything anyone who has ever sent a newsletter with a mistake will appreciate.

    Integrations

One of its great strengths. Omnisend integrates natively with the main ecommerce platforms: Shopify, Shopify Plus, WooCommerce, WordPress, BigCommerce, Wix, Ecwid and Shoplazza, among others. The connection usually takes minutes.

On Shopify, moreover, they have refined the installation of embedded forms with a guided assistant that makes sure everything is set up correctly. And they keep expanding their catalogue of more than 200 apps every month.

    Support

Support is by chat and email, available 24/7, and here Omnisend has an unusual strength: that support is available to everyone, including on the free plan. When you are building a newsletter against the clock, having someone on the other side at any hour makes a difference.

    Pricing

    Omnisend works with three tiers:

    • Free ($0/mo): up to 250 contacts, 500 emails a month and web push. Ideal for starting out and testing the tool thoroughly.
    • Standard: the basic paid plan, with all features available, allowing you to send up to 12 newsletters per contact. It is the natural step up when your store starts to grow.
    • Pro: adds unlimited emails, AI personalisation, SMS access and advanced reporting. The option for brands already sending a lot that want to make the most of every feature.
Active subscribers Standard plan Pro plan
    Up to 1,000$20 / mo$59 / mo
    Up to 2,500$35 / mo$59 / mo
    Up to 5,000$65 / mo$90 / mo
    Up to 10,000$115 / mo$150 / mo
    Up to 25,000$230 / mo$300 / mo
    Up to 50,000$330 / mo$400 / mo

The price scales with your number of contacts and is one of the most predictable in the sector. In 2026 they added a "Pricing and usage" page with a monthly estimate that shows you at a glance what your next bill will be, with the breakdown of plan, SMS and add-ons.

    Worth bearing in mind

To give you the full picture: SMS is paid with credits separate from the plan, some AI and advanced reporting features live in the Pro plan, and being so ecommerce-focused, a business that does not sell online will get less out of the platform. None of this is a problem if you are a store that wants to sell more, which is exactly who it is built for.

Everything new in 2026, in summary

    • Cancel email campaigns already sending.
    • Reusable Universal Layouts in the editor.
    • Direct Canva integration in the email editor.
    • Connection with AI tools like ChatGPT (via MCP) to query your data in natural language.
    • Custom click-tracking domain for deliverability.
    • AI form assistant.
    • Products-sold reports expanded to automations and store level.
    • Statistics API for analytics (beta) for BI.
    • Copy segments between stores.

    Who Omnisend is for

It fits especially well with Shopify and WooCommerce stores, digitally native brands, growing ecommerce and businesses that want email, SMS and push in a single tool without the complexity. If you sell online and want a platform that is powerful but manageable, it is among the best options on the market.

It will do less for anyone without an ecommerce: if you are a purely local business, or you only want to send the occasional newsletter, this tool is not the best fit.

    Verdict

Omnisend is one of the most solid email and SMS platforms for ecommerce in 2026. It brings together almost everything a store needs to capture, automate and sell, with a gentle learning curve and a reasonable price. This year's additions, above all in deliverability, AI and reporting, leave it more complete than ever. If you have an online store and want a tool that works with you rather than complicating things, it is well worth it.

I founded STRAT with one fixed idea: that ecommerce marketing should be measured in profit, not in metrics that look good in a report. I have spent years deep in paid media, email marketing and Shopify, and I have learned that profitable growth does not come from any miracle channel, but from making all the pieces work together. Today I help ecommerce brands scale without losing sight of the only thing that matters: making real money.
