Google Ads Agency
for Ecommerce Brands

Google Ads works on demand that already exists. Where Meta creates demand, Google reaches people who are already searching with intent to buy, and our job is to capture as much of that demand as possible without paying over for traffic that was already yours.

As an official Google Partner, we build accounts with branded and generic Search, Shopping on an optimised feed, and Performance Max fed with first-party signals rather than left to the algorithm. We measure in POAS throughout.

What sets Google Ads apart in ecommerce

We manage Google Ads end to end, from feed optimisation through to account structure and control over Performance Max. Every decision is validated with data and tied to real profitability. These are the factors that decide whether an account performs.

The product feed underpins everything

In ecommerce, Shopping and Performance Max run on the product feed. Titles, attributes, custom labels and images determine which searches you appear for and at what cost. A poorly structured feed caps the performance of the entire account, however well the bidding is optimised.

Performance Max: black box or scaling lever

Fed properly, Performance Max is the most powerful scaling lever Google offers. Run badly, it is a hole in the budget. The difference comes down to audience signals, brand exclusions where they make sense, the assets, and how asset groups are structured.

Branded Search: capturing value without cannibalising

Branded demand is the most profitable traffic there is, and the easiest to overpay for. The job is to capture it without eating into organic conversions that were already free, which takes judgement and data rather than blind automation.

Account structure built around intent

Separating branded, generic, competitor and long-tail searches by intent lets you assign budget and bids according to what each type of search is actually worth, instead of treating all traffic the same.

How we manage your Google Ads campaigns

Product feed optimisation

We optimise feed titles, descriptions, attributes and custom labels for relevance in Shopping and Performance Max. The feed is the foundation everything else is built on.

Search structure by intent

We build Search campaigns split into branded, generic, competitor and long-tail, with bids and budgets set by what each search intent is genuinely worth.

Performance Max fed with judgement

We configure Performance Max with first-party audience signals, segmented asset groups, brand exclusions where they make sense and differentiated creative assets, rather than letting the algorithm operate unchecked.

Measurement and Enhanced Conversions

We implement Enhanced Conversions and set up measurement to attribute the real value of each campaign correctly, reporting in POAS rather than gross platform ROAS.

Real measurement, beyond ROAS

The ROAS Google Ads reports is misleading. Performance Max mixes prospecting with branded demand that was already yours, it takes credit for conversions that would have happened anyway, and it has no knowledge of your real margin. That is why we measure in POAS (Profit on Ad Spend), factoring in the margin on each sale, returns and true product cost, so you can separate the campaigns that generate profit from the ones that only generate revenue. Combined with Enhanced Conversions and margin-based conversion values, you get a reliable read on which part of your Google spend is putting real money into your P&L.

Why STRAT?

We are not a generalist agency that also runs Google Ads. We work exclusively with ecommerce and we know how Shopping, Performance Max and Search behave specifically in online stores. We know when Performance Max is eating into branded Search, when the feed is capping performance, and when you are overpaying for demand that was already yours.

We apply that specialisation as an official Google Partner, with access to support and ongoing training. Every decision on your account is made against tested business criteria and reported in POAS connected to your P&L, not in isolated platform metrics.

Frequently Asked Questions

The main difference is intent. Google captures existing demand: people already searching for a product or a category, ready to buy. Meta creates demand, putting products in front of people who were not looking for them but who fit the profile. That is why Google tends to show a higher apparent ROAS, because it captures conversions nearer the point of purchase, while Meta has more capacity to generate new volume. In a full-funnel strategy the two work together: Meta and TikTok create demand, Google captures it.

Performance Max is Google’s automated campaign type. It runs ads across all of Google’s inventory (Search, Shopping, Display, YouTube, Gmail) and optimises with AI. Fed properly, with audience signals, an optimised feed and quality assets, it is the most efficient scaling lever Google offers. Managed badly, it works as a black box that eats into branded Search and spends without control. We run it with first-party signals, exclusions where they make sense, and a clear asset group structure.

It depends. Bidding on your own brand captures high-intent traffic and protects you from competitors bidding on your name, but it can also eat into organic clicks that were already free. The right decision comes from the data: whether competitors are actually bidding on your brand, what the cannibalisation rate is, and what it really costs. It is not an automatic yes or no.

Because in ecommerce, Shopping and Performance Max run on the feed rather than on keywords. Feed titles, attributes, categories, images and custom labels determine which searches your product appears for and at what cost. A poorly structured feed caps the performance of the whole account however well the bidding is optimised. Optimising the feed is often the single highest-impact change you can make to an ecommerce Google account.

We integrate it into a full-funnel strategy. Google captures the demand that Meta and TikTok create, so measuring Google in isolation gives an incomplete picture. We coordinate the channels and measure on blended MER and blended POAS, so we can see the real impact on the business and avoid crediting Google with conversions another channel produced.
